Developed applications to analyze web logs and e-commerce databases. Managed a team of data mining engineers and acted as vendor liaison.

Developed an internal web-based application using ColdFusion, MS-SQL Server, and ColdFusion Studio on an NT platform in the development environment and ColdFusion and Oracle on Solaris Unix as the production platform. The application is used by advertisers and banks to facilitate uploading of logos and banner ads which integrate with the personalized, targeted marketing product. Also used by internal staff to review the data before pushing it to the production data warehouse.

Designed and developed a meetings/conference product using CF FuseBox methodology, CFHTTP, XML via WDDX for parsing data and returning a CF structure containing the XML document, MS SQL Server 7.0, and session management. Including registration, log-in, and profile update facility, meetings promotions web site builder tool, search/add feature, on-line exhibitor registration form creation tool (w/secure credit card transactions processing and floor-plan upload facility), exhibitor lead generation site creation tool, on-line attendee registration form creation tool, on-line agenda/sections/tracks/sessions creation tool, attendee agenda building tool, calendaring/scheduling tool, address book, and expense tracker tool. Ported application over to MS IIS using ASP/VB Script. After receiving millions of dollars of funding, took on senior role and hired and directed a team of programmers to go forward with our vision.

Recommended/Implemented web-based software solutions and project managed remote engineers. Developed features using WAP/WML, ColdFusion, Siebel client product, and the Palm Development platform. Wrote technical and non-technical documentation for the application.

Responsible for debugging and maintaining Version 2.0 product using Netscape Live Wire Pro (Server Side JavaScript); configuring Informix Database server, Netscape Enterprise Server, and writing cron scripts for this project management and collaboration product targeting marketing professionals and advertising agencies.

Assessed PowerBuilder/Paradox electronic wafer measurement recipes application and porting to web. Designed and developed application w/ColdFusion/MS-Access in less than 8 weeks. Trained C++ programmers in ColdFusion. Created MS-C++ calls to extract legacy data and insert into database via ODBC.

Charged with recommending and implementing hardware infrastructure from networking to security and administration. Installed/configured MS-IIS and the ColdFusion web app server. Developed/implemented a dynamic, secure extranet.

Consultant (Jan1999-March1999) The San Francisco Chronicle - The SF Gate, San Francisco, CA

Responsible for optimizing the performance of a MS-Access/VB application. Migrated the MS-Access database to Oracle for use by the SF Gates Web Site and by the MS-Access/VB application via ODBC. Converted queries to views and stored procedures. Performance via ODBC improved drastically. Responsible for Oracle DBA duties and training a novice in this area during transition.

Consultant (June1998-1999) (Team Intranet Architect) U S West, Denver, CO

U S West has over 80 CLECs in 14 states and they needed a way to quickly analyze and report on more than 250 service measures in order to facilitate legal and regulatory processes. Responsible for conceptual and physical design as well as development of a very secure intranet using the components of SAS including SQL, statistical procedures, SAS/IntrNet, and SAS/MDDB (SAS/EIS interface). Wrote production jobs using Korn Shell Scripts. Worked with sr. statistician, data warehouse architect, project mgr, and director.

Installed and configured MS IIS for multiple websites/domains including the Index Server for network security and site-wide searching capabilities. Installed and configured ColdFusion. Developed web-based surveys using CF and Microsoft Access.

Consultant (January1998-June1998) Hewlett-Packard, Palo Alto, CA

Developed the admin app for executive managers' Corporate Education Development intranet using ColdFusion, Javascript and Oracle PL/SQL on WIN-NT. This admin tool allowed administrators to create and maintain resources. Extracted input from admins and created dynamic custom data sheet for each resource. Customizable template based upon whether the resource was an external pgm, an audio/video resource, or a publication.

Consultant (July1997-January1998)Pacific Data Design (clients were Connectics and Collagen pharmaceutical companies), San Francisco, CA

Created SAS programs for data conversion and validation, and customized data listings and summary tables including logistic regression statistical tables for Collagen and Connetics. Used SAS/Connect w/JTunnel and JConnect via SAS' JViewer Java applet to web enable the data for remote client review.

Sr. ColdFusion Developer (February1996-July1997) Hewlett-Packard, Palo Alto, CA

  1. Developed a 'Recommended Vendors' intranet using LiveWire Pro w/Netscape Enterprise Server and Oracle PL/SQL on HP-UX (UNIX). Allowed decision makers to enter vendor information from previous projects. Also wrote shell scripts to interact w/Oracle stored procedures. Search app was created to allow search by keywords, region, country, state, and vendor category type. A secure administrative page was created to allow additions/updating of vendor parameters.
  2. Developed a 'Developing Educators' intranet using LiveWire Pro w/Netscape Enterprise Server and Informix on WIN-NT. Gave users ability to add relevant educators resources to database. Search developed from scratch to search by keywords and other parameters.
  3. Developed an 'Engineering Project Tracking' intranet using ColdFusion and JavaScript for dynamic weighting formulas calculations on WIN-NT. Responsible for converting the application from ColdFusion to ASP in order to port over to MS-IIS web server and MS-SQL Server.
  4. Developed a Corporate Education Development intranet for executive management using ColdFusion on WIN-NT. This application housed a repository of executive development resources which were viewable contingent upon the custom profile of each executive - (personalization)

Biotech, Pharmaceutical Clinical Trials, NDAs, SAS Software Experience (1980's-1996)

From 1980's to mid 1990's: Various FULL-TIME positions from Statistical Programmer to Analyst to Sr. Manager in the clinical trials R&D area w/pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies with emphasis on Phase II and III. Managed efforts related to New Drug Applications (NDAs): Creation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). FDA Validation, Resource Management, Mentoring, Integrated Safety Summary (ISS), Integrated Efficacy Summary (IES/ISE), Computer Assisted New Drug Application (CANDA) which directly relates to CFR 21 Part 11.

Began career as a SAS Statistical Programmer for CooperVision (now Alcon Surgical) responsible for analyzing laser medical devices data, creating ad hoc reports and listings, managing PC-based systems.

At Allergan working as a Statistical Programmer for the Eye and Skin Care Clinical Trials. Responsible for creating ad hoc and standard regulatory reports and listings. Instrumental in creating the Computer-Assisted NDA (CANDA) Task Force with the long-term goal of a paper-less NDA.

At Parke-Davis/Warner Lambert worked as Sr. Analyst charged with interviewing and mentoring junior Programmer Analysts; creating SAS/AF GUI-based clinical applications for data management and biostatistics; creation of Standard Operating Procedures.

At Fujisawa USA, specialized in liver, kidney, and heart transplant studies. Charged with creating a SAS Programming Department from the ground up under the direction of Director of Biostatistics. This included Hiring of full-time staff members and contractors; building relationships with Clinical Research Organizations (CROs) such as Quintiles and Technical Recruiters; hardware/software recommendations; creating SOPs; creating standard applications and macros/subroutines; and budget management. This new management role was challenging initially but the outcome was a strong, stable department with a staff of 14 programmers.

At Syntex/Roche BioSciences specialized in kidney, liver, and heart transplant studies. Charged with the responsibilities of a Sr. SAS Developer Expert/SAS Programming Manager with a staff of 6 permanent programmers and 9 contract programmers. Member of the International Global Clinical Trials team which included our UK counterparts; Creation and Implementation of SOPs

In 1996 began working as a consultant. Worked for Pacific Bell using SAS Software to analyze terrabytes of data and to automate tasks using batch jobs in a mainframe environment. Responsible for documenting process, work flows, and audit trails.
